Major Breakthrough In Pulp Transportation

Mar 06, 2021

On March 3, Qinzhou Port Railway Container Center Station, loaded with 40 containers of pulp paper from Brazil, left Chongqing on the new western land sea channel train, and is expected to arrive at Chongqing xiaonanya station on March 5.

This marks the official launch of the cooperation between the special maritime transport and the new western land sea channel, which is of great significance to accelerate the linkage between the southwest region and Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and expand the service scope of the new western land sea channel.

The cooperation will promote more cargo sources to gather in the Beibu Gulf port, help to enlarge and strengthen the scale of channel logistics, help the construction of Beibu Gulf international gateway port, and give better play to the important role of Beibu Gulf port as an international hub port.

The Beibu Gulf port group said that the cooperation of the special maritime transport aims to provide customers with safe and efficient logistics services for the new land sea channel in the western region.

It is reported that this is the first batch of Brazilian pulp paper business through the "bulk to bulk" mode. After going from Brazil to Nansha port in Guangzhou, it will be transported by sea to Qinzhou port area of Beibu Gulf port in Guangxi, and then it will take the new land sea channel in the west to go up to Sichuan and Chongqing. The project is expected to have 100000 tons of pulp, which is expected to be delivered in 4-5 batches to the customer's factory through the western land sea new channel to provide raw materials for the local paper mill.

It is understood that from January to February this year, 812 sea rail intermodal trains of Beibu Gulf port were completed, with a year-on-year increase of 99%.

Beibu Gulf port group said that in the next step, the company will make good use of the "double centers" of Chongqing and Guangxi, strengthen the linkage with regional platform companies such as Gansu, Guizhou, Xinjiang and Ningxia, promote the normal operation of new trains from western provinces and cities to Beibu Gulf port, and increase the proportion of foreign trade containers and sea rail intermodal containers. The number of sea rail intermodal trains in 2021 will exceed 6000, and the container throughput of Beibu Gulf port will make a new breakthrough.
